Artists Readings In School

Os artistas vão ler à escola (artists readings in school) is an annual staged reading program, guided by 3 young actresses, with very diverse backgrounds and experience, all with ties to Montemor, Helena Caldeira, Margarida Caldeira and Catarina Caetano. Throughout the year the readings take place in the classroom, in a context of proximity with the students and the teacher, for a total of 18 sessions.

Reading Week

In O Espaço do Tempo every week is a week of reading, but this one is especially intense. From March 9th through March 13th we celebrate books and the pleasure of reading in this initiative of the National Reading Plan all over the country. We will present Valve, a lecture / concert about the history of Graffiti, created and performed by António Jorge Gonçalves and rapper LBC Soldjah, as well as Dark Room, a theatre solo created and performed by Margarida Caldeira.

Support program for visual arts classes

The presence throughout the year in various rehearsals and performances, as well as the encounters with their creative teams, represents a unique opportunity for students to access the universe of the performing arts. In the Reading Week, in March, students will have the possibility to witness the rapper’s LBC Soldjah performance with António Jorge Gonçalves ( Válvula) that introduces students to the graffiti and street art universe. He will also run a seminar of visual arts around this universe, and at the beginning of the 3rd period, students will collaborate in the creation of a mural in the gable of Espaço do Tempo, in the Magina workshop. Visual artist Renata Bueno will hold several quick drawing sessions.

The school is also out of school

Espaço do Tempo maintains its support program for the county’s school community, getting involved again with a CEF (Education and Training Course) class. This year we are proposing a course of lighting design, much deeper and again directed by Tiago Coelho. During January and February students take their classes at the Carlista Philharmonic Society, long time partner of Espaço do Tempo, where we installed a blackbox equipped for performances, serving not only for the band’s regular rehearsals, but also for this course. This is a very appealing professional area of excellent employability in the Alentejo region.

Luís António Verney

A beautiful story that every day is written!

The Luís António Verney School in Lisbon, offers this year, for the first time, the 10th grade of Specialized Artistic Education course in Dance and Music!

It all started 5 years ago, when the school, located in a disadvantaged neighborhood in the eastern part of Lisbon, began the integrated teaching of dance for young students, following the example of music. After a couple of years, this is a school that dances and offers this wonderful teaching opportunity at EB 2/3 level and now, as well, in the secondary grade! A beautiful story of dedication from a faculty who believed in a project that many thought utopian, but today is a reality (and with amazing school results). Espaço do Tempo has been a partner since the first hour, advising on the choice of (excellent) teachers, supporting the final year performance , welcoming classes in residence, etc.
