Ensaio de Orquestra
This project is an adaptation of Federico Fellini’s film Rehearsal of the Orchestra. In the film, a classical music orchestra is in an oratory to rehearse. In this case, it is intended to adapt the script for a jazz orchestra.
Fellini uses the orchestra, instruments, musicians and music as a metaphor for a society in crisis.
Although Fellini claims that he had no interest in politics, he builds a film around an orchestra that does not want to understand its collective nature, where each element has an increased vision of itself, and unites only for the purpose of dethroning the one who understands to be their common enemy: the conductor.
Tónan Quito, actor and stage director, has distinguished himself for his intrepid approach to classical and contemporary works that he stages by challenging theatre canons in a collaborative process with performers and investing in their vitality and creative input during the preparation process. He has worked with Luis Miguel Cintra, Lúcia Sigalho, Paula Diogo, Nuno Cardoso, Tiago Rodrigues, Jorge Andrade, Patrícia Portela, Pedro Gil, Gonçalo Waddington, Tiago Guedes, among others.
