Esta Senhora vem Consigo? — Theatron
Esta Senhora vem Consigo? (Does that lady come with you?) is a portrait, in living flesh, of Portugal in the early 1960s, in its vast complexity: in the relations between the sexes, social strata and generations. The story unfolds in Lisbon, but it could happen here, exactly in this place where we tell it. It could happen next to us, in the streets where we walk. That’s how we think. It comes from the reading of Angústia para o Jantar, by Luís de Sttau Monteiro. It follows the trail, so common at various times, of appearances, prejudices and prohibitions, in which so many women find themselves. All art seeks to express the unspeakable, and this is very clear in this work by Sttau Monteiro. The text engraves and deeply penetrates the thoughts, the intimacy of the characters. Transforms silences into audible matter.
