O ANFITRIÃO DOS AFECTOS

In an indeterminate future, where individuality and melancholy have taken acute form, affective experiences are now offered on a menu. In private spaces, the Anfitriões dos Afectos offer demonstrations to potential customers. Manifestations of love fallen into disuse are now transacted like merchandise. An embrace, “spooning”, a gaze into each other’s eyes, a proffered arm, or a caress, are traded in clinical and aseptic ways, in the vain attempt to regain some lost humanity.

Graduate in theatre (ESMAE/ESTC), Diana de Sousa started her artistic creation in 2017, with the project “TRAVESSA DA ESPERA”, as part of the Programa Cultura em Expansão, supported by Câmara Municipal do Porto. In 2018, she conceived and staged bela_adormecida, co-produced by RIVOLI – Teatro Municipal do Porto and presented at FITEI. In 2019/2020, she created a durational version of bela_adormecida, with the support of Atelier Real/DES | OCUPAÇÃO and Largo Residências, in Lisboa.
