Penumbra

Penumbra is a solo composition that explores the crystallization of images in the realm of pure light and shadow. It questions what to build from the impossibility of observing and listening the body in its entirety as an external element, and how is it possible to work the potential of light in our perception of the world.
In a process of choreographic work, sound design and light design without a hierarchical relationship, light operates as a motto for figurative sequences, inscribing the movement of the body in a perennial relationship with shadow, which proposes a joint poetics of what is not properly defined or closed by nature, only figured or projected between light and shadow: Penumbra.

Bruna Carvalho, 1983, Portugal. Interdisciplinary creator and interpreter, develops work in dance, performance, music, writing, comics and photography.
She created the pieces Mais Vale Um A Voar (2016), E.le.men.to (2017), Gesto Perante Os Desacatos Do Mundo (2019), Torta Lenta Partida Suspensa (2019), Taranta (2020), Penunbra (2020) and Nunca Mais Um Outro Agora (2021).
