Dance of Seven Veils

In a day where gender and the question of ownership are on the agenda in our society, Salomé is in the center of this research of truth. The dance of the veils is disguising and revealing oneself. Playing with the layers of our inner personae. Until we shed all veils and stand naked. Naked to the truth of our being. Defined by who we are. Liberated from gender, age, race and culture. Based on R. Strauss’ adaptation we recreate her infamous dance of the seven veils. Aiming to erase the stereotypical image of Salomé as victim of the male eye. Directed by one of her own, a woman. A sculptor will generate live on-stage new images of the moving body in order to capture and research the ability of reinventing the historic iconography of Salomé.
